Al-Malik

The Sovereign Lord, The King, The Possessor.

God is the Owner of the universe, the absolute Ruler of the whole of creation. He is the only Ruler of the entire universe, visible and invisible, and of all creation, from before the beginning and after the end. He is the King of the Day of Judgement. There is none like Him because He is the Creator of His kingdom, which He created from nothing. Only He knows the size of His kingdom.

He manages the affairs of the universe with absolute and perfect dominion. Only His will, His rule, and His justice exist. What happens is what He wills; what He does not will, will never happen. He does not need His kingdom; His kingdom needs Him. He rules by Himself; He does not need any help to rule. Every worldly king only holds such a powerful position because it is Allah who has granted such a position.

That which is alive is cognizant and active. God is cognizant of all, and all actions are His.

God as the Absolute Living One, under whose perception, all perceived beings and things are arranged, so that nothing perceived escapes His knowledge.

Al-Hayy is the Living Purifier of life from the beginning without any beginning or ending. He is the Subsister forever from the world of pre-eternity, and the Ever-Living who does not die.

‘Then high above all be Allah, the True King.’ (Quran 20:114)

‘Exalted be Allah, the True King. The Lord of the Supreme Throne.’ (Quran 23:116)

‘He is Allah beside Whom none has the right to be worshipped but He, the King, the Holy, the One free from all defects, the Giver of Security, the Watcher over His creatures, the All-Mighty, the Compeller, the Supreme.’ (Quran 59:23)

‘The King of mankind.’ (Quran 114:2)

‘Whatsoever is in the heavens and on the earth glorifies Allah, the King of everything, the Holy, the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.’ (Quran 62:1)

‘Truly, the righteous will be among gardens and rivers, in a seat of honour in the presence of a Sovereign who is perfect in ability.’  (Quran 54-55)

The high above all be Allah, the True King.’ (Quran 20:114)

Benefits in the belief of this Name include:

  • Worshipping God with love, fear and hope, for He is the One who does whatever He wills and manages all the affairs of the universe.
  • Accepting God’s decisions, accepting whatever He decides for us after we have used our best endeavours.
  • Acknowledging that whatever we possess in this world has been granted to us by God Almighty and is like borrowed property for the length of our life. Therefore we need to have humility before our Creator.

And God knows best.
