Meeting the Prophet

Hassan bin Thabit, a companion of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said that when he first saw the Prophet, he needed to shield his eyes from his light. He then wrote the following poem:-

When I beheld his lights shining out,
I placed in awe my hand before my eyes,
In fear for my sight at the beauty of his frame;
and now I look at him only to my capacity.
His light has made all the lights drown in his lights.
His face has replaced every sun and moonrise.
He is a spirit of light inside a body of moon
like a gown that was sewn with sparkling stars.
