He is the Supreme Wisdom in everything, in whatever He has decreed, in His legislation and in His reward and punishment on the Day of Judgement. He also has Supreme Wisdom in everything in creation. He never creates anything in vain, nor does He legislate nor judge in vain. He does things in His Absolute Wisdom.
The Arabic word, ‘Hikmah’ – Wisdom, denotes putting things where they belong.
This Beautiful Name has appeared alongside the Name of Almighty God in twenty four contexts in the Holy Quran.
There is no doubt nor uncertainty in His knowledge, nor does it have a limit. Neither is there any doubt nor uncertainty in His commandments. Whoever follows them will learn many crucial things, otherwise unfathomable, from the reflection of His perfect knowledge.
Al-Hakim manifests knowledge of right action and deeds. It covers the laudable purposes and objects, connected with the creation of all things. Following this wisdom will allow the seeker to evolve towards being a perfect human being.
Al- Hakim is the One Who is All-Wise, the Confirmer in the disposing of all subtlety, and the Appraiser of goodness in the realities of His orders. He is All-Knowing of the wisdom of what He has fore-ordained. He gathers together the decree for creation for its goodness, its judgement and justice. He determines everything in His decrees. So that everything has its wisdom and instruction.
None of Allah’s deeds is without benefit and wisdom. None of Allah’s wisdom is for His own benefit. Allah needs nothing. The purpose of this wisdom is to enable the order and continuity of the cosmos until the appointed time.
“In the Name of God, the Lord of Mercy, the Giver of Mercy.”
“Thus Allah makes clear His ‘ayat’ for you. And Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.” (Quran 24:59)
“We raise whom We will in degrees. Certainly your Lord is All-Wise, All-Knowing.” (Quran 6:83)
“And if Allah had wished, He could have put you into difficulties. Truly, Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise.” (Quran 2:220)
Benefits in the belief in this Beautiful Name include:-
– Complying with Allah’s rulings, completely submitting to His will, showing contentment with whatever He decrees and decides for us, and being confident that all of Allah’s decisions are best for us in this world and in the life to come.
– Calling upon Allah to grant us wisdom, as He is the sole possessor of wisdom, whilst doing our best to acquire wisdom through beneficial knowledge and righteous deeds.
– Rejoicing at having been guided to the true religion of the All-Wise and Well-Informed, which comprises great benefits. It helps us to achieve happiness in this life and eternal bliss in the hereafter. It serves to protect our religion, life, intellect, wealth and honour.
– Whoever recites this Name, will not have difficulty in his or her work or tasks.
